Criminal History Checks
For your information: All Child Care Providers are required to obtain a Criminal Background Check as mandated by the (DCD).
North Carolina Law states:
Effective January 1, 1996, it became
law that the Department of Human Resources ensure that the criminal history
of all child care providers is checked and that a determination is made of all
providers'
fitness to have the responsibility for the safety and well-being of children
based on that criminal history. To that end, providers and applicants must
submit
a county and State history if they have lived in North Carolina continuously
for the previous five years. All others shall have their county, State, and national
criminal histories checked. The Department has the right to prohibit a
child
care provider from providing care if it determines that the provider is
unfit
to have such responsibility. This is in accordance with General Statute 110-90.1.
